Grant Overview
The Minority-Owned Business Accelerator grant measures the success of its recipients through a comprehensive set of metrics. This funding supports businesses that are accelerating their growth through access to capital, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Unlike general small business grants, this funding is specifically designed for minority-owned businesses in underserved communities, excluding businesses that are not minority-owned or operated. To be eligible, businesses must demonstrate a clear plan for achieving specific growth milestones, such as increasing revenue, creating jobs, or expanding into new markets. The grant requires recipients to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including revenue growth, job creation, and business survival rates. Specifically, recipients must demonstrate a 20% increase in revenue within the first 12 months and create at least 2 new jobs within the first 18 months. The KPIs that must be tracked include: 1. Revenue growth rate: measured quarterly, with a minimum annual increase of 15%. 2. Job creation rate: measured quarterly, with a minimum annual increase of 5%. 3. Business survival rate: measured annually, with a minimum survival rate of 80% after 2 years. 4. Client acquisition rate: measured quarterly, with a minimum annual increase of 10%. 5. Customer retention rate: measured quarterly, with a minimum annual retention rate of 75%. Recipients are required to submit regular progress reports, including quarterly financial statements and annual performance reports. The evaluation process involves a thorough review of these reports, as well as site visits and interviews with business owners and management. To meet performance thresholds, recipients must demonstrate progress against their growth milestones and KPIs, with a minimum overall performance score of 80%. ## Business Growth Benchmarks To ensure that the funding is having the desired impact, the grant program establishes clear benchmarks for business growth. These benchmarks include revenue growth, job creation, and business expansion into new markets. Recipients that fail to meet these benchmarks may be subject to additional reporting requirements or technical assistance. ## Accelerator Program Evaluation The evaluation of the Minority-Owned Business Accelerator grant program involves a comprehensive review of recipient performance, including their progress against growth milestones and KPIs. The evaluation process also assesses the overall impact of the funding on the businesses and the communities they serve. This information is used to inform future funding decisions and improve the overall effectiveness of the grant program.
